Iowa City Addiction Treatment Options: Our Programs

We service Iowa City residents looking for detoxification, inpatient, and outpatient treatment services. ARISTA Recovery offers the following addiction treatment options or levels of care. If you aren’t sure what kind of addiction treatment program is right for you, we can help. During the admissions process, we’ll talk through your current treatment needs and work with you to select a starting level of care.

Often, the first phase of addiction treatment is Missouri medical detoxification. Getting off of alcohol and other drugs can come with uncomfortable and potentially dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Our detox program helps you get off of substances safely and successfully with the supervision of trained medical staff.

Residential inpatient treatment provides around-the-clock supervision and gives you a chance to work on recovery away from everyday life triggers. As a client in our residential inpatient program, you will live on-site at our serene 38-acre campus for the duration of your program and will have a full treatment schedule during the day. We take care of meals and housekeeping so that you can focus on healing. Clients in all of our levels of care get an individualized treatment plan.

Examples of treatment activities you might engage in throughout the week during your program include but aren’t limited to the following:

  • Groups
  • Individual therapy
  • Experiential therapy
  • Horticulture therapy
  • Medication management
  • Meditation and yoga
  • Physical activity
  • Family therapy
  • Recreation
  • Meals

The standard length of a residential inpatient stay is 30-90 days. However, the exact length of your treatment stay may vary and will be unique to you. Many clients enter one of our outpatient programs after inpatient treatment to help them transition back into everyday life. While this is often recommended, it isn’t required.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) does not refer to staying in a hospital setting part-time. Instead, PHP is a level of care between an inpatient and intensive outpatient program. PHP clients have a more intensive treatment schedule than intensive outpatient clients, with a time commitment much like that of a traditional work or school schedule. In PHP, you’ll attend treatment most days for groups, individual therapy, and other services outlined in your treatment plan.

While PHP clients have a full-time treatment schedule, intensive outpatient clients have a part-time schedule with a reduced time commitment. In our Kanas City intensive outpatient program (IOP), you will still attend treatment multiple times throughout the week and will still have a structured treatment schedule but will have additional time for external commitments like work, school, or family life.

Outpatient is our lowest level of care and is ideal for clients with well-managed symptoms. Most often, outpatient is used as part of a step-down approach to treatment. This is because outpatient care can consist of as little as a few treatment hours per week.

Our sober living facilities provide a supportive environment for outpatient clients to live outside of treatment hours that helps them stay accountable, safe, and sober. If you’re looking for an Iowa City drug and alcohol rehab center, you are likely coming to treatment from Iowa City or surrounding areas. Alongside other benefits of sober living environments, staying in supportive housing means that you will be close to our treatment center and will not have to worry about a lengthy daily commute.

As you prepare to graduate from treatment, our staff will work with you to create a personalized relapse prevention or aftercare plan. Aftercare plans are catered to the individual and might consist of continued therapy, support groups, education, work, or housing arrangements, and anything else that’ll help you sustain recovery and feel confident after treatment.

Once you finish your treatment program at ARISTA Recovery, you’ll have access to our alumni program. The alumni program at ARISTA Recovery lets you stay connected to the support system and sober community you built while in treatment.

Medication-assisted treatment refers to FDA-approved medication treatments for drug addiction, generally prescribed alongside therapy and other services as part of a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment. We provide these medications to clients in any of our care levels with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) or Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) who may benefit from them.

Addition affects the entire family. If you’re seeking services for yourself, you might wonder how to educate your family on addiction or rebuild relationships with family members. Or, if you’re looking for an Iowa City drug and alcohol rehab for a loved one, you might have questions about addiction and what you can do to help your loved one through recovery. Our family program helps families understand addiction, communicate, and support one another.
