- Dorothy Horn
Dorothy Horn is a master’s level Social Worker and Addiction Counselor. She works with adults diagnosed with a substance use disorder. Dorothy understands that many of the individuals with a substance use disorder also have a mental health issue and believes both must be treated for favorable outcomes. Dorothy supports the use of several treatment modalities that are tailored to the needs of each individual client. She is trained in several treatment modalities, including Cognitive-Behavior, Solution-Focused, Acceptance and Commitment, and Family Systems. Prior to joining the team at Arista Recovery, Dorothy was a Counselor at two other Kansas substance use disorder treatment programs, where she facilitated group therapy and provided individual counseling services for clients.
Dorothy is currently working on the requirements to obtain her clinical license and aspires to supervise other master level social workers seeking clinical licensure. Dorothy holds two degrees from the University of Kansas: a bachelor’s in Developmental Psychology and a master’s in social work. In her free time, Dorothy enjoys watching documentaries and psychological thrillers, tending to her houseplants and taking walks with her Bulloxer, Mac. She also enjoys living vicariously through her oldest son, who lives in New York City, and her youngest son, who lives in Southern California.
